The prestigious world wine competition Decanter Word Wine Awards (DWWA), has announced the winners of the edition 2023. The Corral Cremat 2012 d'Albet i Noya has been the wine of the Denomination of Origin Penedès with the best rating. Clàssic Penedès has won the medal Best in Show with a score of 97 punts. with 20 celebrated editions, The Decanter is one of the most prestigious and influential wine competitions in the world.

A Penedès Classic among the best wines in the world

Of the more than 18.200 wines presented in this edition of the DWWA, not more 50 have obtained maximum recognition: la medalla Best in Show. Among them, the Classic Penedès El Corral Cremat has been chosen 2012 from the Albet i Noya winery.

Corral Cremat is a very special place in the Ordal Mountains. A natural amphitheater of south-facing vineyards with fewer hours of sunshine than usual, a situation that causes a very marked thermal contrast, a slow ripening of the grapes and good acidity to be able to make great long-aging sparkling wines. It is an elaborate wine 100% with xarelello from this backyard located almost 400 meters of altitude and which defines the mineral and intensely karst character of the Ordal Mountains.

The sparkling wine repeats medal, since it also obtained the same recognition in the edition 2022 of the Decanter.
 
The most prestigious international awards

In its 20th edition, the Decanter DWWA is one of the most renowned wine competitions on the international scene. This year's edition was attended by more than 18.200 wines from 57 countries. Part of its reputation comes from the rigorous evaluation process: for two weeks, the jury formed by 236 people - among themselves 16 Master Sommeliers i 53 Master of Wine de 30 countries – tasted and discussed all the wines presented. These figures show that it is the most important edition of all the ones held so far.
